Day 85, Baker City. "Rest Day".
Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Today we did absolutely nothing. We got up late, had breakfast and returned to the room to catch up on phone calls, e-mails, facebook, charging up all our electronics, and all that other good stuff. I did get some editing of my pictures done, and we did go out for lunch and walked around a bit. But other than that, we just hung out. Tomorrow we have an 88 mile day. like I mentioned before. Eastern Oregon is like a big desert. It is hot beyond belief, and there are little to no services between towns which are by themselves many miles apart. We are concerned about the availability of water, so we plan on packing a couple of extra bottles just in case. Hopefully we get an early start, and able to make good mileage early. We have three thousand foot passes to climb later in the day, and that might be a concern if the temperature rises to far above a hundred.
Wish us the best of luck, and hope for the best. We are almost there. Aloha, Ted.
